Event programme 1998
The events held at the Kurdish Library makes room for the free word, for the artistic creativity and acts as a meetingplace where people and cultures can come in contact with each other.
The main heading for the photo exhibits during 1998 was Swedish photographers in Kurdistan - Kurdistan bi çavên fotografên swêdî. The project was carried out in cooperation with "Culture Capital Of Europe, Stockholm 1998" and The City Of Stockholm.
Susan Meselas, documentary photographer from USA, presented and signed her book Kurdistan - the shadow of history at the library.
Mehmet Uzun, kurdish writer, presented and signed his book "Granatäppelblommning" at the library. A meeting in cooperation with Ordfront publishing house was held at the library.
Me and my identity is a poetry-reading session held by five female kurdish poets from thre different countries.
The forbidden flowers-exhibition, that was inaugurated by Marita Ulvskog (minister of culture) in connection with the first anniversary, is an ilustration of the brutal oppression against the Kurdish language and the kurdish people.
