Kurdish Art
Lacking national institutions and independent academic educational establishments, Kurdish art has developed on a singularly individual level, open to all sorts of inspiration and experiments. Kurdish artists have to a large extent studied in various countries such as Iraq, Turkey, Iran, France, Italy, Russia, Spain etc. Among the artists are variations of different schools, levels of ambition and quality. The Kurdish Library is also mapping artistic endeavours and expressions. We are anxious to build the foundation for a Kurdish arts archive which will also act as a network for Kurdish artists and a platform for those interested in the arts. We are now in the process of establishing this network for Kurdish artists. We would be delighted to have the names of artists that you think are left out on this page. If you give us their name, please be also prepared to furnish us with information on how we can get in touch with those artists. We gratefully accept catalogues and other archive materials on Kurdish art and artists. |
