Serhad Bapir
A short biograhy
Serhad Bapir was born in 1964 in Tetwan in Northern Kurdistan. During his years at grammarschool he participated in the Kurdish liberation movement. From 1983 he was persecuted and later was wanted by the military forces in Turkey because of his political involvement.
In 1984 he had no other choice but to leave the country and seek political asylum in Greece. Between 1987 and 1992 he studied at the School of Visual and Applied Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Aristotheles in Salonika. He studied painting under Prof. Vangelis Dimireas and Dimitris Kondos, and graphic art under Prof. Yiorgios Milios. During that time he received a grant from the Kurdish Institute in Paris for his studies.
Since 2001 he has continued to study graphic art with studio of Prof. Xsenefon Sahinis at the University of Aristotheles in Salonika.
During 1995-97 he worked as an art teacher at the Cultural Centre of Stavrupolis in Salonika. Since 1997 he has been employed as a teacher at the secondary school in the same town. He became a member of Association of Visual Artists in Northern Greece in 1993 and since 1994 has been a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts in Greece. He has been settled in Salonika since 1985.
His paintings and graphic works are found among others in the Art Gallery of the Association for Macedonian Studies, in collection of The Macedonian Arts Society ("TEXNI") in the town of Kilkis, in the collection of the Kurdish Institute in Paris, the kurdish review NÛDEM in Sweden, in the collection of Sotiris Tsukalis and in several other individual collections.

SERHAD BAPIR
En kort biografi
Serhad Bapir är född 1964 i staden Tetwan i Norra Kurdistan. Redan under högstadiet deltog han i kurdiska folkets befrielsekamp. I 1983 blev han förföljd och så småningom efterlyst av den dåvarande militära ledningen i Turkiet p.g.a. hans politiska engagemang.
I 1984 var han tvungen att lämna landet och söka politisk asyl i Grekland. Mellan 1987 och 1992 studerade han Bild- och Nyttokonst på Konstakademin (School of Visual and Applied Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts) vid Aristoteles Universitet i Thessaloniki.. Han tog lektioner i bild och måleri för Prof. Vangelis Dimireas och Dimitris Kondos och i grafisk teckning för Prof. Yiorgios Milios. Under perioden 1985-92 fick han stipendium från Kurdiska Institut i Paris för sina studier. Sedan 2001 har han fortsatt sina studier i grafik för Prof. Xsenefon Sahinis vid Aristoteles Universitet i Thessaloniki.
Mellan 1995 och 1997 arbetade han som bild- och konstlärare vid Stravrupolis Kulturcentrum i Thessaloniki. Från år 1997 har han varit anställd på högstadiet i samma stad. 1993 blev han medlem i Bildkonstnärsföreningen i Norra Grekland och sedan 1994 har han varit medlem i Greklands Bildkonstnärsförbund.
Han har bott i Thessaloniki sedan 1985.
Hans målningar och teckningar finns bl a i Föreningen för Makedonska Studiers Konstgalleri, i Makedonska Konstföreningens samling ("TEXNI") i staden Kilkis, Grekland, i Kurdiska Institutets samling i Paris, i tidskriften NÛDEMs samling i Sverige, i Sotiris Tsukalis samling och i flertal andra individuella samlingar.
